Garden recycling lorry ate my neighbours brown bin today …

The men put it on the lorry and it didn’t come back!  Recycling person followed it into the hopper but he did come back.  Poor neighbour has been going up and down the road searching for it but I suppose they don’t have a note to put in the door to say it has well and truly gone…. Next time you hear of a bin going missing it could well be a feature of the service?  Ha ha ha!

Have you been PLEVINED

I would like to hear what people think about this. It is to do with PPI but involves secret commission that was paid to your lender. A lady  was told she should receive compensation because her lender had not told her about commission they received. Is this the start of PPI again.

Johns &Co ..24 hours in Brentford. What about Syon Park?

Just been reading the post dated 30th June, from the new estate agents. Yes, makes for interesting reading, and highlights some of our local attractions, but misses out on one very important attraction - Syon House & Gardens? There is indeed a photograph of the majestic Syon House, but with information underneath about the beautiful Kew Gardens! Maybe Johns &Co, need another walk around Brentford?

Scam warning

Call received on mobile this morning claiming to be from the 'Citizens Advice Bureau' helpdesk. They claim to have been given information that we are 'struggling with outstanding debt'! Number that they called from 0191 536 4032 - when questioned the caller hung up.

Gunnersbury Park Bowls Club

An almost identical planning application was refused In April 2020. The current proposal was recommended for refusal at Hounslow Planning Committee in January 2021, when the Committee resolved to defer their decision "to allow for the masterplan for Gunnersbury Park to be presented". The latest officer report recommends approval without mentioning the revised masterplan. This must be because the masterplan, which will be subject to community consultation, has yet to be published. The compelling planning reasons for refusing this application remain unchanged from those that obtained in April 2020. Consistency in decision-making is one of the pillars in securing public confidence in the operation of the planning system.

Flooding on Enfield Road

We are awash here and I am told Windmill Road is at a standstill. Oh what fun to be in England now that Summer is here

Hitting the nail!

'Whenever I hear the word 'consultation' I smell a rat. In the mouths of politicians, this weasel word means; "We are going to do something really nasty. But first we'll ask a few people if it's O.K. - and then go ahead anyway.'  With thanks to Paul Routledge in today's Daily Mirror.

Windmill Road northside

LBH's footsoldiers have moved in this morning with their chainsaws and are removing the first of the remaining mature trees to be needlessly destroyed. LBH are super efficient at killing off healthy trees, as we know only too well. Next for us is the removal of all off-street parking and double yellows going in on the entire street. I am filming and shooting all of this, to what end, I am not sure. I have lived in Windmill Road for 34 years. It is my home. My home. LBH have gradually but determinedly ruined it. We are now in the endgame. It's heartbreaking but we are leaving Brentford. Over this? Yes, over this. The estate agents are doing very brisk business in our immediate area. People aren't stupid. But councils are.

E10 petrol

Remember in September E10 will be in most pumps. E5 will still be available but the price is expected to increase. It seems a good idea to check your car to see if it is E10 compatable.

Scam NHS email

A warning to friends and neighbours. A VERY convincing-looking email is circulating this morning plastered with NHS logos and inviting you to apply for a digital passport to prove your inoculation status.  IT IS A SCAM. The web address resolves to a Brazilian website. It is however very convincing in layout and content.  Please delete it and warn less 'tech savvy' friends and family.

Riverside behind watermans

Hi does anyone know the story behind that awful stretch of river behind the watermans. Huge rotting hulls of boats and barges. Even the section of wooden walkway is cordoned off and rotting. It really is an eyesore, and i'm wondering how it was allowed to happen.

St Paul’s fountain flows again!

Great to see this fountain back in working order in time for summer. The restorers did a splendid job.

Man and Van

Require this service late morning on Monday, two hours max, local job. About 20 boxes and a few bits n pieces need shifting to a storage depot just a mile away. Internet is awash when you search, but would rather call someone direct based on a recommendation. Thanks!

Brentford Swans

Does anybody know what has happened to the eggs/young of the two sets of Brentford swans? I'm referring to the pair which had a nest roadside near to the canal bridge and the pair in the 'nature reserve' at the end of The Island. I saw both sets sitting on the nests but haven't seen any cygnets and yesterday a volunteer at The Toll House told me that 'they' had drowned. I'm not sure which cygnets he was talking about or what exactly happened. Does anybody have any information? Thank you.

Heidelburg Closing in Brentford

Just read that Heidelburg are closing their offices in Brentford, just wait until the Ballymore lot get their hands on the site, hundreds more unsalable flats and more major disruption for Brentford, but lots of money for Hounslow Council, will this ever end, or will the council wake up to what is being done, just wonder how much the council make out of this for a new swing park !!!!! as a generous constribution from Ballymore to go ahead regardless of local views.
