Syon Park,  West London, TW8 8JF  (Don't mention that word!)

"Whatever you do ...don't include the word Brentford!Well that what it seems when one looks at the website for a major exhibition starting at Syon Park during the next few days.Decorex International 2014 is going to be a mighty Show with a host of talented Exhibitors and the huge tented complex being erected in the fields of Syon Park is a sure sign. Check it out on Google.But Syon Park falls within Brentford (not Isleworth). It's located in the Syon Ward. It has a TW8 postcode... but like many other examplesthe businesses avoid using the name Brentford.  "West London, TW8" is not funny.How long will it take for that "B" word to be held in high regard?

Mobile car scratch repairs

I used a chap whose card said "Autowise" but no response from the mobile on the card. He came to my home and fixed a scratch.  Does anyone know of something similar in the Brentford area.

Fire on allotments

Just been told the sad story of the death and fire at the Allotments in Crane Ave.The person who was killed was an ex Ivybridge Resident called Brian Halliday...Very sad news.

United Residents Of  Ivybrdge

I have been reliably informed that the above named Tenants and Residents Association will no longer be holding meetings on the basis that the Chair and Vice Chair are at loggerheads with each other. Thanks guys, maybe you should both look at the title of this TRA or maybe pick up a dictionary to understand the word United!Your shameless self promotion on the Ivybridge Estate means that Ivybridge now has no representation whatsoever. Why don't you call an EGM, stand down and allow people  who have the vested interests of Ivybridge residents at heart to stand for election and build a thriving TRA?

Meads Family

I have just found out that my grandfather is/was Bertie Meads. His father was Thomas Meads and his mother was Jane Sedgwick.  Bertie was living 15 Albany Road Brentford in 1901 and in 1928, 30 Brook Road.  I know it's a long shot, but can anyone give me information about the family and are their any living members, I can contact?Thank you very much for reading this.Peter Wise

Redevelopment of Brentford

Just been to view a lovely flat in Brentford but the area itself was less than desirable. Apparently overall changes to the area and developments are all long overdue and although welcome, are dogged by delays.Does anyone have any insights in to what the area is really like to live in? We would be moving from Chiswick and if the plans which are in place are set to continue, the area looks set to be booming - does anyone know how likely this is to actually happen?I read about the possible Ballymore development which has been delayed continuously...

Pillocks!

A crew has just arrived to install a gate at the entrance to the access road that runs along the back of our house and the houses in an adjoining road. No-one as far as I know was notified, consulted or even had any knowledge of this. We are lucky in that we have never had any problems and anyway quite a few neighbours like us have outside lights and CCTV. Even if we had a major crime problem the silly little gate they install would be utterly useless, on top of that where the posts are going will prevent one of my neighbours getting in to his own garage because he has a van and the posts are in the way! Given that we always have to argue the toss with Hopeless Homes who are responsible for this access alley to get them to maintain it when vegetation overgrows, it's a joke to think they are prepared to spend God alone knows what for this barmy wheeze. Sometimes I really do believe the lunatics have taken over the asylum.

Flats Management Charges

Hi allThis is a simple request for guidance from a well versed group of people.My elderly parents purchased a flat in September 2014.  One of 14 units, all privately owed by mainly elderly people.  The "builders" are in effect the mgt co, and have sent their reasonable invoice for service charges,  However, no explanation of what thee charges are for.  I am going to challenge this, as I want to know what they are spending the money on and lots of the elderly people that have bought flats there have "snagging issues" with their properties that I think are inexcusably ignored by the building company.All I need is some advice on how to find out the legal, required, formal process that the builders need to follow in relation to this issue.Can anyone advise where to source info.ThanksMatthew

Is goat on sale anywhere near Brentford/Isleworth?

After getting a taste recently for goar curry I quite fancy having a go at making one at home but would it mean a trip to one of the butchers in Hounslow to buy some goat or does anyone know a place nearer?I sm sure my taste buds must be changing as I bought dome mutton last week at the Twickenham Farmers Market and absolutely loved it and it was so much better then the supermarket lamb we usually have

New school in Brent Lea

Having seen the leaflets regarding the new school proposed to be built by Brent Lea I'm very interested to find out more about the actual location. The map looks very vague and I have concerns over where all the new traffic will be entering the school site from. From what I can fathom the school is taking admissions but no actual site plans are available. So is the site a definite or are there public consultations to take place? I'd love some advice on how to keep up with the proposals and planning. I've been trying to get involved in the changes in the area as a whole but I always seem to be reading about meetings that have happened instead of upcoming.

The Crane Valley Partnership, supported by the Friends of the River Crane and Hounslow and Richmond Councils, are currently bidding for £175,000 of funding from the Greater London Authority to make this neglected stretch of waterway into a haven for wildlife and a place for people to enjoy. The proposed improvements include making the link more accessible with better paths and signage. This project aims ultimately to create a new 10km circular riverside walk linking the Crane, Thames and Duke’s Rivers. This funding can only be secured if this project wins in an online poll currently taking place. So please vote by 2nd March deadline and please encourage others to do so too.
