Brentford's Golden Mile>

We read from Kath Richardson's front page story that a select few were invited to the Civic Centre to be shown the Council's plans for the Golden Mile.Who were those lucky people?  Were they people who appear on this Forum to chat about Golden Mile matters?  Were there any historians in attendence?  Any of our Councillors who rarely appear on the Forum?Maybe the Brentford Chamber of Commerce....but they rarely appear on the Forum especially as their own website is more pictorially active these day.So what Jim? Civic Centre could be moving to Hounslow Town Centre!

The Hounslow Chronicle reports that as much as 1,000,000 pounds per annum could be saved by movimg out of the Lampon Road premises and moving to another purpose built building ....smaller and more central to Hounslow Town centre....opposite  Yates.So why was so much spent on he Civic Centre in the past 10 years for it now to be demolished for homes?

Is this a police issue??

Can someone tell me if this is a police issue.My daughters ex got his daughter to call my daughters car insurers pretending to be my daughtet and told them she had sold her car and to cancel the policy due to this my daughter had to get rid of her car as she could not afford to renew it.Then 2wks ago the police came to see my daughter they had a certificate of ownership of my daughters dog from petlog kennel club and it was in her ex name.  We were shocked as my daughter got her dog when he was a pup in 2012 and his chip wss done in 2012 in her name so we called petlog and we were told they had recieved a change of ownership form signed by my daughter (in her old surname as her surname was changed in April)They also have a tel recording from a female pretending to be my daughter to confirm change of ownership. My daughter did not sign any form or make that call and the dog is still with her. Petlog was happy that my daughter was telling the truth and placed it all Back in my daughters name with a new chip and id number and are going to write to her ex.Then my daughter received court papers stating he was taking her to court to get his dog back,  the dog was bought by him in 2012 for £400 he bought it for her.All vet bills since then was paid for by my daugter and all paperwork inc insurance for him has always been in her name. She also has emails from him admitting hitting the dog, and emails from his daughter telling her back in april to come down to exeter service station to get him which she drove down with my wife to get him. Then because she told him she didnt want anything to do with him no more she got emails from his daughter's partner saying her ex wanted £400 or the dog when my daughter thretened with the police they emailed her saying keep the dog and dont ever contact us again. She also was sent a letter from her ex saying he had enclosed the dogs paperwork. But now he is trying to take her to court over custody of the dog.  Over the petlog and insurance stuff should she report it to the police?

Is The Gloriana really coming to Brentford?

I posted back in July "Come on Brentford - Richmond don't want to house the beautiful barge "Gloriana" - why don't you offer to make a home for her on Lot's Ait?   Surely room could be found on there for a suitable boathouse.    It would give people a real reason to visit Brentford - a great tourist attraction.   The footbridge is in place, the existing Waterman's could be developed to house the ticket office, information centre with a restaurant etc etc.   A great opportunity - grab it!:It seems the Council are seriously considering this - see the new Autumn 2014 propaganda magazine "Hounslow Matters" on page 5.   Hope the 3 paragraphs under Bring The Gloriana Back are not just nie sounding padding and that Council Leader Cllr Steve  Curran is really doing this.

sad day for Brentford Ealing and Hanwell

As time passed I thought that maybe she was alive somewhere.I still find it hard to believe she was not found sooner in the obvious vicinity when all the searching was centred on the Brent and Canal.In due course, questions raised in the press about the initial lack of interest over CCTV footage being offered by local businesses, the delay in searches and the confusing information some of which has made it hard for people to recall events they may have seen, has not been good and needs to be redressed.It must be awful for the family, the magnitude of the campaign by the people of Hanwell, Ealing and Brentford has endeared a local whom almost none of us know to our hearts.I hope from that they can draw strength from the good and solidarity it brought out in the people of these three towns.The yellow ribbon campaign has at the very least, made sure her disappearance was given the utmost priority.Today's find is truly saddening. One can now only hope that the true perpetrator is found and brought to justice.

Harlequin Avenue, Brentford, revisited      "Acres of Sky"!

Do you ever venture around the local trading estates..and observe the different type of factory buildings and offices..the pallets stacked outside the warehouse doors..and then the names plates of well known Companies?Fortunately my work over the last 30 years has taken me around lots of these places..and my favourite was going to Macfarlane Lang in Osterley to deliver packaging materials..and then having the opportunity of going into the staff shop to buy up half the semi reject cheesecakes on display..which I dished out at the next firm I visited!!or to my helpers.  Maybe you like industrial estates too..you can learn what's going on.As you cross Gillette Corner going towards London on the Great West Road, you leave Isleworth TW7 and enter Brentford TW8. There is no friendly WELCOME TO BRENTFORD sign.  Why not I wonder. It's been mentioned before on the Forum.  Anyway let's proceed.First left after Gillettes ..or old Gillettes..and you enter Harlequin Avenue...no houses or flats (yet!!) an estate dominated by Gillettes and ..increasingly SKY TV.  Let's have a look around. Do you work in Harlequin Avenue by the way?
