Indians in Brentford

I recently came across a post which was a shout out for an Indian community on the Chiswick forum and decided to reach out and see if we could do something similar in Brentford.It would be nice to meet up once in a while, somewhere in Brentford or around, to discuss and share culture or maybe just meet new people/families. Love walking or cycling? I'm looking for volunteer champions in Hounslow

We are looking for volunteer champions in the London Borough of Hounslow who can help people be more active through walking or cycling more for their everyday journeys. As a champion you can select which volunteering activities you organise or take part in. These activities include: holding an information standorganising group rides or walkscreate an information displayarranging travel advice clinicsgiving talks Setting up bike user groups or walking groupspromoting the Hounslow Travel Active schemeor, if you have your own ideas for activities the champions support team can work with you to develop them.Time commitment: This is a fully flexible scheme designed to fit around your existing commitments, however most champions do something every month or so. We recognise the valuable time that goes into volunteering with us with gold, silver and bronze certificates. EU Referendum

David Cameron is for ever going on about re-negotiating with the EU to look after our own borders and make our own laws once again without EU directives.However he cannot start without first invoking Article 50 of Lisbon Treaty which is the only mechanism that exists within the EU Law to get Powers back to our country,he has not done this yet! so how on earth can he persist in telling us that he is on the case as it were! does he really think that we the populace are ignorant and have no understanding.At the moment we are completely controlled by the EU as to whom we can Trade with, we as a country need to be able to trade with our Commonwealth, Asia, China, North & South America, we should not be held to ransom by the EU does Nick Clegg,Ed Miliband and David Cameron seriously believe that if we were given an in/out referendum and we chose to leave the Euro Zone that Europe would no longer trade with us, for heaven’s sake we import approx 60% of their trade, that they even conceive this might happen beggars belief.We now know that if Ed Miliband were to win the 2015 election he would not take us out of Europe let alone give us a referendum because he deems that it would be wrong for us,Politicians have to remember that they were voted in to do the best for our country, not take John Prescott's attitude "They voted us in and they will do as they are told" People age 40 did not have the opportunity to vote and it has been nearly 50 years since we voted to enter the COMMON MARKET to trade not to be dictated to by the EU who gave them that right did you because I certainly did not and I want a say in both mine and my countries destiny.

Aromatherapy Diploma student seeking case studies

Dear allI am looking for female or couple case studies in the local Brentford area.I am a qualified Holistic and Indian Massage practitioner and now training in aromatherapy.I am looking for one or two people who are able to commit to seeing me once a week for at least six treatments. You will receive a full body massage including aromatherapy consultation. I will be charging a nominal fee of £10 to cover materials cost. CPZ in North Brentford

The CPZ for North Brentford is going to start in early June. I find it both fascinating and amusing how it has been worked out.First how can Eastbourne Road be included and Challis Road not? One road literally leads on from the other. Could it have anything to do with Eastbourne Road being private housing whereas Challis Road is mainly Council? Also I was always under the impression that the council justified the permit charges for the CPZ on the basis that it was only covering the admin costs! Pray tell why it costs £60 for the first car, £100 for the Second and even more for any others. Could this be a form of car ownership taxation I wonder?Furthermore I was talking to a friend of mine who voted in favour of the CPZ in Avenue Road, he was quite pleased to know the CPZ was coming in, that was until he found out that the restrictions are only for short periods morning and afternoon on weekdays and with the probable dramatic reduction in parking places he probably won't be able to park his car any nearer his house when he gets home from work than he does now and pay for the privilage to boot.Well done Hounslow, once again you've made your residents lives so much better!

Will the Government not insist on a Cap for Pharmaceutical Companies.

It is a disgrace that whilst Pharmaceutical companies profits are soaring, Cancer Patients are at risk of not getting the treatment that they urgently need or tragically face death, unfortunately it would appear that even if they are lucky enough to obtain the treatment that is required it is to the detriment of patients with other diseases that need treatment. In effect these GREEDY Pharmaceutical Companies are condemning patients to death.Costs are continuing to rise, drugs used on Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia such as Glivec-which has proved so successful that patients who 10 years ago survived only for a few years can now look forward to a near normal life expectancy.Disgracefully the cost of Glivec has risen from  £18000 per patient per year to £21000.Despite the fact that all research costs were covered by the original price whilst bearing in mind that the number of patients also the length of time they are on the drug has vastly increased because of the drugs success. However much we need the development of New Drugs the greed of Pharmaceutical Companies and the continual rising costs are unsustainable to the NHS. When you consider that Imatinib(Clivec) has already made Billions for its maker.The Government must act now peoples lives are at stake.

Barratt Homes GWQ Breaches the Consumer Code for Homebuilders

Concrete Dust Hazard

The amount of dust from the Alfa Laval site is a serious concern.Their is dust everywhere and we are all getting sore eyes and claggy noses.Are others suffering from this?Asbestos or Not, Concrete dust is very nasty. The wind has not helped matters for the last 6 weeks as it has blown over the Griffin Park and Butts areas .I have today called the H&S people. Very difficult to do by phone. Easier by email but wonder if anyone actually reads these.If you have a concern please call them on 0300 003 1647 option 1 and ask for them to put you through to the right dept for Hounslow Borough ( which is in Bootle)

Pat Duffy - A Tribute Evening in the Royal Horseguardsman

The untimely death of Pat Duffy, who died in February on his way home from a night out, was reported recently on TW8.Last Saturday, the landlord of the Royal Horseguardsman, Noel McNaboe, organised an evening event to celebrate Pat's life and to allow his friends to raise funds to support his family.The staff and regulars of the Horseguardsman, together with members of the West London Celtic Supporters' Club, entertained Pat's wife and daughters in an evening in which his favourite music was played and Celtic football memorabilia was raffled and auctioned.A sizeable sum was raised on the evening, a measure of the warmth and respect Pat had earned amongst his many friends. A plaque in his memory was placed on the pub's wall, remembering Pat as "one of the good guys".As someone who did not know Pat well I was humbled to see the strength of emotion the evening generated and pleased to see the community demonstrate its solidarity for his family in their time of grief.

Smash and grab at  Mercs.

Read this on the front page of TW8 and was shocked to see that Mercedes insurance have declined responsibility for the car that was nicked. If it was my car I think I'd be having one hell of an argument here. Firstly  - don't Mercs. have a duty of care for cars left in their possession? Secondly whatever happened to customer service? How did the thieves know which keys were for which car? Were the keys in a locked key cabinet, ot just on hooks with the registration numbers on the keys? It comes as no shock that the insurers are trying to wriggle out of any blame - what's new? But bearing in mind how this would push your car insurance premium up through no fault of your own would make me so bloody furious, I'd be preparing to have a real go and take it all the way.

Heathrow Expansion

Regarding the Community consultation roadshows, I find the schedule of meetings strangely, or not, have been set up during the hours when  people will be at work and therefore unable to attend! This clearly favors those who support expansion. Who is responsible for the schedule?

Missing black cat

Our very large and extremely friendly short-haired black cat has been missing since yesterday - last seen in the Tallow Road area of Brentford.  It is completely out of character as he rarely leaves the house - hence his size!  Please can you check sheds, garages, etc.  He was last seen wearing a light blue collar with a red heart tag on it with his name and address and a smaller round gold tag saying he's been ID chipped.  Many thanks, Liz

Disgraceful behaviour on 237 bus this morning

I was absolutely disgusted this morning to witness abuse from a man with 2 small children directed at my 71 year old mother and then have this abuse turned onto myself for sticking up for her.I was waiting for the 237 bus as I was making my way into work. Whilst I was waiting a man in his 30s with 2 small children arrived amongst several other people as the bus took a good 10 minutes to arrive. My mother than joined me at the bus stop as she was going to do her weekly shopping. The bus then arrived and stopped in front of my mother who got on the bus first (bear in mind she is a pensioner and the bus was already pretty crowded therefore she would struggle to get a seat).The man who was waiting next to me then said "There's a queue you f****** *****" and I turned to him and said "That is my mother you're speaking to". He then went into a tirade of verbal abuse as we got onto the bus (which was now crowded full of people) to which I refused to resort to his level, only pointing out that this is how he shows respect to his elders. He even offered for me to get off the bus and fight him! This was highly embarrassing and insulting, not only showing a poor example to his children but also a lack of respect for women, elders and his fellow passengers. What has happened to these values in our community?It is so disappointing to find that there are grown men like this who have no shame in behaving in such a disgraceful manner and I only hope that other people on this board have not had to witness similar experiences to this!

To the s*** who chucked a rock at my 12 year old car

This is a rant, sorry but what else can I do?To the S*** that chucked a big rock at my little 12 year old car:So, you, you little drunken s*** chuck a BIG rock at my car, so hard it dents the roof, bounces off and hits the kitchen window on my house.You have damaged my car to the tune of £691 + VAT.Her name is Toot.  She is 12 years old, I have had her for 11 of those years.  I love her, I take care of her. She has done only 60k miles in those 12 years, she has been serviced regularly, regularly washed and cleaned inside and out and generally taken care of.  She has never let me down.  To most people she is nothing special, just a teeny tiny jeep, parked innocently at the front of her house, not causing trouble or being offensive in any way.Insured third party only, so the bloody big dent in her roof will now stay with her for the rest of her life.  I can't afford the repair bill.What did I or she do to you?Nothing that's what.So why on earth did you do it?The police won't catch you for this, but it is only a matter of time.  I don't like you, not one tiny bit.  I hope one day something you love is taken from you,maybe then you will realise.
