This can't be posted on the front page yet as servers moved home yesterday and haven't quite unpacked yet.Snow is forecast all day today (Wednesday) with below freezing temperatures tonight to guarantee greater travel chaos tomorrow. Further snow is predicted daily for the next five daysSt Paul's CE School is closing at lunchtime today (12.10) due to lack of school dinners but hopes to be open for a full day tomorrow.Brentford School For Girls is open as normal.A signal failure at Hammersmith is causing 'minor delays' on the Piccadilly line. Local Power Cuts?

Anyone else experiencing power cuts in the night? Our electricity went off sometime last night and didn't come back on until 9.50AM. It's happened at least once before in the last fortnight, maybe more as I've been away.

Key found on Linkfield Road

Now that the snow is starting to melt, have found a single yale-type key on my front wall. Has a key ring attached. As is only one key probably belongs to a teenager or is a spare...anyway, email with a description of keyring if you think is yours!

Route 65 Why is it in such a mess?

I used to think it was the 267 that was the poor relation to bus services in this district, and for years before that, it used to be the E2.But just what has happened to the 65?It has not been much cop since the days of conductors and routemasters and that was 1989 - 20 years ago!It's quite true that road works all over the route have damaged the service particularly between Ealing and Kew. Passengers blowing a fuse because of long waits (often over 40 mins) is almost understandable.But nothing serious has been done to cover the problems during these periods.Seems odd that for the Gunnersbury Mela all sorts of bus improvements get pulled out of the hat, but the rest of the time?.... Nothing. But it is the missing countdown units, The missing bus shelter at South Ealing Station and the amount of short journeys that make it more intolerable. I have to say what really sets me off on a mardi are the incredibly uncomfortable seats in brand new buses on this route. An abomination.How on earth could TfL approve a design that clearly is not for humans, able or disabled.With all the rhetoric from both Mayors about quality and comfort being paramount to public transport and to make giving up the car a viable choice - This flies in the face of it all. These seats are so uncomfortable that it actually makes one back hurt all day. Not helped by the poor road surfaces from Popes Lane to Richmond and beyond.But in defence, I have to say the 65 drivers a decent lot and some deserve medals for the abuse they have to put up with.The fault clearly lies with TfL who cost us taxpayers a fortune in running the tender system and supposedly improving standards but are clearly failing and as usual it's us the fare paying passenger and ratepayers that pay the price one way or another.Grrrrrr!

HEALING ON MONDAY 11TH

The first of our monthly sessions for 2010 will take place at the London Buddhist Vihara, The Avenue, W4 1UD between 11am and 1pm and we look forward to seeing anyone who would like some healing, either just for an energy boost, to relieve stress or for a physical illness.Although the centre takes place in the Buddhist Temple the healing is NOT related to any religion, it is totally non-denominational everyone is welcome.No charge is made for healing however a donation is most welcome - all donations are given to the Vihara for the use of the hall.No appointments are necessary. Get a grip ...

Bought these and they work! The picture isn't very clear - they stretch over the whole shoe.They have sold out at QVC but the wait list for new orders is only a couple of weeks away.http://www.qvcuk.com/ukqic/qvcapp.aspx/app.detail/params.item.431812Anyone else bought ice grips or can recommend shoes with a sole which grips the ice? How do they manage in Countries which have months of snow and ice?

Is it time for the Community Goup to leave the coalition

Below is part of a message posted by Cllr Andrews on this website. It seems that the staff at LBH are undermining the IG group. Is this with the backing of the Tories?Would it be better for the group to withdraw support and push the Tories into trying to run the Council without a majority?"It is worth noting that Paul, myself and other members of the Community Group within the coalition are being very seriously undermined at the present by the Chief Executive and other chief officers at the London Borough of Hounslow and we are in the process of trying to set up a meeting with the Leader of the Council at which these matters can hopefully be resolved for once and for all. Licenced thievery by our Council

Just watched three ticket wardens; ticket twenty or more cars in Brent way Brentford; its Bank Holiday Monday in the middle of the festive season. There has been no need of parking restrictions on this road even during the working week; for years. What I witnessed today was thievery with licence and nothing but, it is disgusting; no wonder they travel in threes; I'm just glad my car wasn't out there.

Christmas bin collection

I've just looked on the LB Hounslow website to find out the days for rubbish collection after Christmas. It just says on bank holidays it will be one day later than normal. Can this be correct ? There's usually a time table of collection days.

Carols in the Park last month....?

Hi,Thanks to those who made it through the snow for our truely festive Christmas celebration....If you couldn't make it we had approx 200 people sharing mulled wine, mince pies, hot chestnuts, etc.That was the night that we had significant snow with people abandoning vehicles and buses skidding.... Monday 21st Dec '09.It didn't all go according to plan, the animals got snow in at the farm (better than snowed in St Pauls Rec!), we had some power problems... but the lights reflected off the snow, children played and we sang carols...My final task is to produce a report for the funders and I can't find any photos of the event....Unfortunately, a couple of our photographers couldn’t make it on the night (I’m very impressed with how many people did make it down!) and whilst we were all doing our best despite the conditions, it seems that not many pictures were taken (if any!).Please could you ask around and forward me any photos… it was truly beautiful in the snow and it’s a great record to keep of a wonderful event.Thanks!
