Isleworth Trolleybus depot

Had an amazing short film clip emailed to me of Isleworth Trolleybus depot.Given the shortage of space even then, the ingenuity of London Transport was amazing.A turntable and traverser and operated by what looks like controls from a tube train!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1IoPWmFJ14&feature=youtu.be

Toxic car hazard Brent Lea

3 days ago a car was totally burnt out in the Brent Lea car park. It still has not been removed. I contacted the pollution dept at the council. Response.. 'Please can you kindly confirm the model, colour and if there has been any damaged caused to the vehicle?'Well, it's black, obviously and its melted engine doesn't look as if it will work.I have lost the will to live.

Corbyn - does he want to win?

A snippet from today's BBC online news:'... if Mr Corbyn does win, he may well be haunted by a sense that he didn't really want the job in the first place.'Who thinks this may be true (or not)?

Pot Holes

Has anyone noticed the state of Hounslow's roads just lately - there seem to be quite deep pot holes everywhere! And on the Hanworth Road, opposite the Sun, there's what looks like either the damage from a small earthquake, or serious subsidence!Check out this link: www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/...g-roads-1888982.htmlYou might also be interested in contacting these people if if your car disappears down a hole!Roads, highways and pavementsWe have a responsibility to maintain all roads in the borough in a safe condition. On these pages you can find out how to report defects on the road, street lights or traffic lights not working and how to get a dropped kerb. For more information please contact:HighwaysEnvironment DepartmentLondon Borough of HounslowCivic CentreLampton RoadHounslowTW3 4DNTel: 020 8583 5555 Fax: 020 8583 4913 E-mail: highways@hounslow.gov.uk

Labour Party supporters of Jeremy Corbyn are gathering in Hounslow's Kingsway Banqueting (270-272 Bath Road, Hounslow TW4 7DF) on Sunday 6 September to raise money and our own body weight on behalf of the only Labour leadership candidate who opposes the third runway at Heathrow.Guest speaker on the night is Ken Livingstone.Tickets for this truly spicy evening of politics are available from http://curryforcorbyn.eventbrite.co.uk

Mela

£6.50? It's an event I've always enjoyed, especially the food stalls, but I don't see how they can justify charging that much.

Albany Road Closure and St Paul's School

I was walking to Morrisons around lunchtime today when I came across a major health and safety exercise involving the pupils of St Paul's School - they were learning how to cross Albany Road to the new school wing at Alexandra House. They were all lined up regimental from the park and proceeded to cross single file at the traffic calming hump on the junction of Albany/Alexandra Road and Back Lane. It looked like most of the teachers were there supervising. Unfortunately as I approached (wondering whether to wait or just dodge through a gap) one of the first pupils fell over in the middle of the road and subsequently lay there crying and distressed, thus causing a knock on effect with those behind, and the whole train came to a sudden halt. Panic ensued with the adults in a dizzy fit shouting orders to remain calm because at that moment a car driving a snails pace was approaching them on Albany Road. Horror of horrors! For all the preparation they hadn't planned for someone tripping up which threw the whole exercise into chaos. (I say exercise, but they could have just been on a short trip to acquaint themselves with their new premises). Whilst I understand that primary school children should be afforded every possible safety when crossing a road, I consider it excessive that this reasonably quite road should be closed off permanently to allow it. Indeed, cars must approach the junction with Alexandra Road with caution in any event due to buses and other vehicles going up it. The only entrance to Morrisons car park is via Alexandra Road past the County Court so presumably everyone from an easterly direction will have to go to the Ealing Road/High Street Junction and turn right and then right again into Alexandra Road, or take a short cut from Albany Road down the already congested and narrow Wilkes Road. Surely a better solution can be implemented - such as a zebra/pelican crossing, or a large "CAUTION SLOW - CHILDREN CROSSING" or other such sign. The council should exercise some common sense here - assuming they have any left. Call me an old fuddy duddy (and bring back the Green Cross Code blah blah) but really - there's far too much bubble wrap these days and it's bad for the environment.

Planes over Brentford

Is it me, or does anyone else think the planes are now coming over closer to Brentford when they use the north runway. We have lived here for over 25 years, and I am sure the planes have never come this close.  We are near the football ground.

La Rossetta Restaurant; 27 years and still going strong!

It was was packed when I visited La Rossetta with a friend last night... and the atmosphere was buzzing. What a success story involving Brentford High Street.    Ciro and Pietro have done so well and bravo to them.It was a picture on the Brentford Dock residents' Flickr page that triggered my interest in visiting again.  Oh what fun we had there in the past ..with variety music hall entertainers, and the presence of Lonnie Donegan who had a flat at the Dock.

Brentford Festival

Can anyone enlighten me as to why the 'Brentford' Festival takes place in Northfields in the borough of Ealing? Surely it should be in Brentford we have various locations which I'm sure would suit - St Paul's Recreation Ground for one?

8 councillors in the Brent Lea rec

We had a great evening. Our celebration picnic in the rec was attended by 8 councillors. Thanks to them all for coming along. After a hard fought Battle of Brentford 3, I was so pleased that they accepted our invitation and enjoyed mingling with our wonderful local residents/campaigners.Thank you, Steve Curran, Katherine Dunne, Theo Dennison, John Todd, Mel Collins, Myra Savin(deputy Mayor) Tony Louki and Guy Lambert. The work hasn't stopped. In order to keep our rec we have to have our fingers on the pulse. We are setting up a Friends of Brent Lea Rec and if you would like to join us, you know where to find me. Here. Thanks for your support.
