Joke of the day - Labour strategy !!

An old one but worth another read at budget time………It's a slow day in a little east Norfolk town. The sun is beating down, and the streets are deserted. Times are tough, everybody is in debt, and everybody lives on credit. On this particular day a rich tourist from down south is driving through town. He stops at the motel and lays a £50 note on the desk saying he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one to spend the night. As soon as the man walks upstairs, the owner grabs the note and runs next door to pay his debt to the butcher. The butcher takes the £50 and runs down the street to repay his debt to the pig farmer. The pig farmer takes the £50 and heads off to pay his bill at the supplier of feed and fuel. The guy at the Farmer's Co-op takes the £50 and runs to pay his debt to the local prostitute, who has also been facing hard times and has had to offer her "services" on credit. The hooker rushes to the hotel and pays off her room bill with the hotel owner. The hotel proprietor then places the £50 back on the counter so the rich traveller will not suspect anything. At that moment the traveller comes down the stairs, picks up the £50 note, states that the rooms are not satisfactory, pockets the money, and leaves town.No one produced anything. No one earned anything. However, the whole town is now out of debt and now looks to the future with a lot more optimism. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how the Labour Government is conducting business today…..

AMJA has been made Vice Chair of the Hounslow Community Police Consultative Group

Readers may remember Andy Atkinson (AMJA) who was a regular poster on this and other Neighbour Net forums until about a year ago. He left after receiving a request from the moderators of EalingW5 to tone down his abuse.Best known as the original Mr Angry, AMJA was always ranting against members of the minority ethnic communities and in one post even managed to lump asylum seekers in the same category as murderers, rapists and child molestors.Well, incredible as it may seem, this week's Hounslow Chronicle features an article in which it states that AMJA is Vice Chair of the borough's official community/police liaison group. The article itself relates to the issue of the five-fold over-representation of black people in the police's stop and search statistics. Needless to say, in the quote which is ascribed to him, AMJA seems to find no problem with this imbalance. How on earth does someone like this manage to get into such a sensitive position? Is it in some way a manifestation of the growing tentacles of influence of the Tories and their ICG allies throughout the borough? Whatever the explanation, it is a disgrace. Some time ago on the Ealing forum, he was moaning about the fact that police officers were no longer allowed to be members of the BNP.Among other forum outbursts, he has complained about the number of Asian women operating the post office counters in WH Smiths in Hounslow High Street; accused Sara Nathan of having a "little PC mind" because she dared to enquire as to whether any forum regulars were on the leaked list of BNP members (a reasonable question given that she herself had been featured in a BNP publication entitled "The Jews who run our Media"); and tried to justify the use of the term "Paki".In letters published in the local Times newspapers, he has attacked the Anti Nazi League eight times (though oddly enough, never the BNP); "political correctness" nine times; "bleeding heart liberals" four times; and Hounslow's Racial Equality Council twice. What a sad situation that the Hounslow borough, which used to pride itself on its inclusiveness and diversity, should now be in a situation whereby AMJA is effectively a police spokesperson. It will come as no surprise to anyone that he is a vociferous and outspoken opponent of Ann Keen (because of the superb work she has done in the field of equalities). Nor is it in the least bit surprising that he is a strong vocal supporter of the ICG and Phil Andrews. (He in fact commended the latter for voting to axe funding to the nationally-renowned "Hounslow Language Service", which provides specialist English teaching to refugee and other vulnerable children). For forum members who would like to view the Chronicle article, here is the link:-http://www.hounslowchronicle.co.uk/west-london-news/local-hounslow-news/2010/03/18/black-people-five-times-more-likely-to-be-stopped-109642-26061755/

Labour's paymasters will call the tune

With the collapse of its membership and organisation nationwide, the  Labour Party is now much more heavily dependent on funding from the trade unions than for many years. The trade unions have sent a staggering £88.5million to the Labour Party HQ in the last eight years. This amounts to 63 per cent of all funding the Labour Party has received since official records of donations began in 2001.UNITE - the trade union that is calling the irresponsible strike which will cost BA many millions of pounds - is likely to spend up to £5m on their own campaign before the General Election starts. UNITE has already donated over £10 million to the Labour Party in recent years- 25% of Labour Party funding.A secret marginal seats operation being run by UNITE is far bigger than the Conservatives' own very open and public marginal seats campaign. In addition to donating money, the union is using its staff and its massive database of members in a bid to persuade dithering former Labour voters they must get out and vote during the General Election. The operation is being masterminded by Charlie Whelan, UNITE’s Political Director and a close friend of Prime Minister Gordon Brown.Because the campaign is being run by UNITE, rather than the Labour Party, it does not have to come from the Labour Party’s dwindling General Election campaign money and it does not count as election expenditure. And of course all of this support will come with a very expensive price tag attached.  UNITE and the other trade unions have a powerful say in who the Labour Party selects as MP's and will dictate Government policy just as they did under the Wilson and Callaghan governments on the seventies. As they say in Scotland : "He who pays the piper will call the tune ".

Are your kids attacking the local helpless

I came across this article today,A "MALICIOUS" website encouraging members of the public to attack a homeless Chiswick man has been slammed by the charity trying to help him.Tom Vincent, manager of Thames Reach's London street rescue service, has spoken out about Spoon The Tramp.com.The site invites visitors to pelt the man who sleeps under the flyover with cutlery.A comment from the 'president' of the Spooners Association says that "the best time to bomb this geezer with spoons is about 2.30 in the morning".The site creator also claims to have thrown 8,000 spoons at the rough sleeper since he set up his club 15 years ago.Web users can also find a map of the homeless man's location as well as images of people approaching him.Mr Vincent said: "We fear he (the homeless man) is clearly unwell and he is someone we are very worried about. Thames Reach's outreach teams never give up on people and we are determined to get some support to this man so that he can escape the streets and get his life back on track."Speaking about the "unpleasant" site, Mr Vincent adds: "It appears quite malicious in its comments and encourages members of the public to target the same rough sleeper, behaviour that is really quite indefensible."Spoon The Tramp is not the only online community to discuss the man.A Facebook group called The Chiswick Roundabout Tramp Appreciation Society has attracted more than 3,000 members. One user has posted: "Why can't people just leave him alone, people are always attacking him and taking stuff off him."Mr Vincent said: "While we welcome people using social networking sites to look at issues such as homelessness, we are worried that such pages on Facebook pinpoint specific individuals and therefore increase the chance of them facing ridicule or abuse."Anyone who might be concerned about someone sleeping rough in the borough can call the Thames Reach helpline on 0870 383 3333.
