Serious Disruption to South West Trains Services

Serious Disruption to South West Trains ServicesDue to a railway bridge failure east of Feltham station, all South West Trains between Feltham and Waterloo are cancelled.  The cancelled services (both directions) are: • Waterloo to Weybridge via Hounslow and Feltham.• Waterloo to Reading via Richmond and Feltham.• Waterloo to Windsor & Eton via Richmond and Feltham. Trains running from Waterloo to Waterloo all the way around the Hounslow Loop (both directions) are running as normal.  This means that trains on the Hounslow Loop (Hounslow – Isleworth – Syon Lane – Brentford – Kew Bridge – Chiswick – Barnes Bridge) will therefore receive only a half-hourly service.  • A bus shuttle service is operating between Feltham and Twickenham.• Passengers travelling from Hounslow loop stations to Feltham will need to change to buses at Twickenham.• Passengers travelling from Hounslow loop stations to Ashford or Staines will need to change to buses at Twickenham then to trains at Feltham.• Passengers travelling from Hounslow loop stations to stations between Egham and Weybridge or Egham and Reading will need to change to buses at Twickenham then to Windsor & Eton trains at Feltham then to Weybridge or Reading trains at Staines.• First Great Western trains are accepting South West Trains tickets between London and Reading/Windsor.• London Buses are accepting South West Trains tickets between Feltham, Osterley and Hounslow.• London Underground are accepting South West Trains tickets between Osterley, Richmond and Central London.Passengers wishing to travel between Feltham and Waterloo are advised to make alterative arrangements.  The recommended route is bus routes H25, H26, 90, 285 or 490 to Hatton Cross underground station then Piccadilly Line train to central London. This disruption is expected to last at least until the end of the week and possibly longer.________________________________________ Chris Calvi-FreemanHead of TransportLondon Borough of Hounslow

Thanks to Gordon Brown, Britain is now longer in the World Gold Top Ten

The top ten gold holdings by country in September 2009 according to World Gold Council,as quoted in "The Economist " are:USA 8,100 tonnesGermany 3,400 tonnesIMF 3,200 tonnesItaly 2,500 tonnesFrance 2,400 tonnesChina 1,1000 tonnesSwitzerland 1,000 tonnesJapan 800 tonnesNetherlands 600 tonnesRussia 600 tonnesIndia bought 200 tonnes of gold from the IMF in October 2009 at a cost of $6.7 billion. The IMF plans to sell 403.3 tonnes of its gold holding in order to cover its operating expenses and help expand lending- possibly to countries with severe economic problems such as the UK. It is noteworthy that the UK is not included- possibly because Gordon Brown sold 359 tonnes of  the UK’s gold reserves when the price was $257 per troy ounce. I suspect more has been sold since. The price is now about $1,100 per ounce for the first time.It has been calculated that Gordon Brown's blunder has cost this country well over £10 billion. The central banks of China, Mexico, the Philippines and Russia have all added to their gold reserves in the past year. The Bank of England can no longer afford to buy any.The Economist says ”Every central bank with a large holding of American debts is worried about capital losses if the dollar continues to weaken. Gold offers reassurance. ""Anyone who wants “quantitative easing “ in the gold market has to dig a mine “. Maybe Gordon Brown should start digging !Ann Keen MP is Gordon Brown's former Paraliamenary Private Secretary and was part of his team during his disasterous tenure as Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Is Ann Keen MP responsible for the rising rate of hospital infections ?

Brentford and Isleworth MP  Ann Keen is well known in certain circles as a former nurse but is much less well known locally in Brentford since she went to live in Waterloo and become a Parliamentary Under Secretary at the Department of Health. The House of Commons all party Public Accounts Committee has recently published a report stating:1. Eight out of ten infections contracted in hospitals are going unreported because the NHS s focussing on just 2 Department of Health tragetted superbugs - MRSA and Clostridium difficle (C. diff.).2. 300,000 patients acquire an infection in hospitals every year in England. Many die or become very seriously ill as a result. Unfortunately too many of us know of people who have been affected.3. The failure of the NHS to monitor other infections means that it is impossible to know how many are dying from these other infections.4. The Labour Government has ignored the Committtee's previous recommendations to make reporting of all infections compulsory.5. Infections other than MRSA and C.diff account for 80% of infections acquired in hospitals. The NHS is only reporting 20% of the infections.6. A voluntary and theefore incomplete reporting system run by the Health Protection Agency has found that (a) bloodstream infections in hospitals have increased by 30 per cent between 2003 and 2007;(b) Cases of E. Coli rose by over 33 per cent between 2003 and 2007;(c) Cases of Klebsiella bacteria, which can cause pneumonia, rose by over 33 per cent between 2003 and 2007;(d)Cases of MSSA, a bacteria increased by 9 per cent between 2003 and 2007.I am pleased to announce that Ann Keen MP cannot be held personally responsible for this rise in hospital infections as she only became Parliamentary Under Secretary for Health in 2007 - after the period under review which was 2003 to 2007. However before that she was Parliamentary Private Secretary to Gordon Brown, then Chancellor of the Exchequer, and a senior member of the Government presided which has over this frightening rise in hospital related infections.I am pleased to advise that Ann Keen MP has been quoted as saying that the Government would consider the Committee's proposals. Hopefully this outgoing and discredited Government will implement the proposals before too many more people die as a result of its negligence and inactivity in this matter. We need a better NHS.We desperately need a change of Government.
