Brentford and Isleworth is a two way fight

Now that the Clegg effect has faded nationally, and now that Andrew Dakers has failed to make an impact locally, Brentford and Isleworth is a straight two way fight between Labour's Ann Keen and the Conservatives' Mary Macleod.The Conservatives have a strong lead over both Labour and the Lib Dems nationally. Mary Macleod has fought a much stronger campaign than her predecessor did in 2005 and the Conservative led Council is popular, having done a great job improving services and freezing the Council Tax. General Elections are about choosing a Government.There is no prospect whatsover of the Lib Dems forming a  Government. Therefore if you want to keep Ann Keen and Gordon Brown - vote Labour but if you want a new MP and a new Government, vote Conservative.

Thames Water

To ask the Prime Minister, through our new M.P., "Can we please have a choice of providers for our domestic water supply like we do with gas and electricity. Water piping supply can't be so different from the gas supply network.  Imposing this upon Thames Water may be complicated but not impossible, because British Telecom's monopoly was broken up in this way.

A quiet SPACE where I could intensively REHEARSE singing at least 12 hours daily to record my DEMO

Hello, I am a young man who is looking for a charitable community/person who could help me to find a quiet space in West London where I could intensively rehearse singing at least 12 hours daily to record my DEMO with my own music equipment. If you have any little space (at least 1x2 metres, any cellar, basement, storage, cubby, office, workroom or whatever - please suggest), please, can you help me? I can regularly rehearse at any times it is possible according to our arrangement, (including in the nights if the space is only available in the nights). In return, I could keep your property tidy (I cannot offer any money but I can offer my work, (suggest what work you would like (e.g.: keeping your property tidy, pet-sitting, dog-walking etc.)). If you think you can help me with a space where I could intensively rehearse singing at least 12 hours daily, please, suggest where and when (time and date) we could meet to talk about details in person. Twisted Lie in Labour leaflet

Keen's latest leaflet shows a supposed 2005 election result that shows the ' Lib Dems can't win. ' The impression is clearly intended to indicate the position in Brentford & Isleworth in the last constituency . The figures ( 35.3 %Labour , 32.3% Tory and 22.1% Lib Dem) are false. The actual percentages as per Wikipedia are as follows : Labour 39.8, Con 30.2, LD 22.8 Clearly on these figures , it would be possible for Andrew Dakers to take 9% out of Keen's 39.8% and win without the Tories gaining or losing a vote. Keen's leaflet is clearly intended to make the Tories look stronger and thus a switch to the Libe Demas riskier than it actually is If they can lie about this , what else can they lie about ?

Andrew is the real contender

On thisislondon forum pages the smart money is on our Andrew. Prepare for a shock and at the very least a tiny Tory majority in this seat.  This is now a two-horse race in B&I.London Communication Agency are also saying it's too close to call and Keen is lagging.

Lib Dems' policies don't stand up to scrutiny.

A curious feature of the local Lib Dem candidate's literature and campaign is his avoidance of any mention of the Lib Dems' national policies. He is essentially campaigning as a local Green candidate as if he were running for election to Hounslow Council and not to the House of Commons. But of course he is runing for election to Hounslow Council as well !Now that we know a little more about the Lib Dems' national policies (or lack of them), maybe we can understand why:To paraphrase Harold Macmillan: the Liberal Democrtas have some good policies and some original ones but the trouble is  that the good policies are stolen from the other parties and the original ones are simply barmy or unaffordable.For example, how can the Lib Dems take everyone earning less than £10,000 a year out of the income tax net when the cost of this will be £17 billion and Britain is Broke ? It is a nice idea but unaffordable at the present time.The Lib Dems have advocated an amnesty for over 600,000 illegal immigrants at a time when all parties agree that the country is struggling to cope with the millions of legal immigrants who have come into the country since Labour opened the gates in 1997 ?Why did Nick Clegg say that 80% of immgrants come from the EU when in fact the true figure is nearer 40% ?Lib Dems like Labour voted for the Treaty of Lisbon without honouring their pledges to hold a referendum on such an important issue. The Lib Dems, like Labour, believe in high taxes and high state spending and have no credible plans to cut the deficit. The Lib Dems are long term supporters of Britain joining the euro.This is a very unpopular policy the Lib Dems try to avoid mentioning. If this policy were implemented, Britain would lose control of its monetary policy and ultimately its fiscal and taxation policies and become a mere province of the Federal European Union. If this Lib Dem policy were implemented, it  would make Britain partially responsible for the debts of Greece, Portugal, Spain, Italy and all of the euro zone,  make British exports more expensive and cost hundreds of thousands of British jobs. The Lib Dems policies to eliminate bonuses for directors and limit bonuses for emplyees to £2500 would destroy the leading position of the City of London in world banking and finance and cost hundreds of thousands of British jobs. The Lib Dems advocate higher taxes on air travel and air freight. The Lib Dems advocate road pricing which would price poor people off the roads and be unfair on people in rural areas. The hugely expensive CCTV network required for road pricing would threaten civil liberties. The Lib Dems have no experience of Government as there has not been a Liberal Government for nearly one hundred years. The Lib Dems are deeply divided on many policy issues. There are big differences between Left and Right of the Party and between Parliamentary Party and the membership.The Lib Dems lack credible policies on the economy, the national debt, national security, defence, energy, law and order, education and the NHS.   It simply doesn't make sense to vote Lib Dem.The Financial Times has endorsed the Conservatives for the first time since 1987. That makes sense.

Labour sink to new low in Isleworth

At yesterdays excellent St Georges Day event on the Ivybridge organised superbly by the residents association,the Bridgelink committee and the Somali Association it was such a shame to suddenly see Labour activists suddenly swoop and attempting to thrust a leaflet in to the hands of anyone with a non white face.Until that point everyone was enjoying a really great day in the sunshine but I was handed many of the leaflets from residents clearly upset that they had been deliberately targeted as this was a strictly non political event When I pointed this out to one of the Labour candidates that she was bang out of order by attempting to create tension at an event the whole community were enjoying she just smirked and then watched from the sidelines with her little gang.It was interesting to hear also that when three pensioners asked her about what she would do for them if elected she just turned her back on them and walked away which I think says it all about them and the methods they employIt was also noted yesterday that while they were attempting to ruin the event they had young children out delivering leaflets on the Worple Estate which were left hanging out of every letterbox or strewn across pathways!

It seems rather strange that this site has chosen to feature Matt Hamer's May Newsletter - but none from any of the other candidates- on the front of this site on the day before a Council Election.Does this Newsletter count as an election communication ?Has www.brentfordtw8.com abandoned its non-party political, ojective journalistic position ?Does www.brentfordtw8.com now officially support Matt Hamer in his bid to be re-elected in Brentford.How do the other candidates such as Ruth Cadbury and Andrew Dakers feel about this ?

Chiswick Hustings Friday 30th April 2010

Ann Keen's performance last Friday night was deplorable, especially as she is the sitting MP.She consistently interrupted Andrew Dakers and Mary Macleod and insisted on asking them questions which was contrary to the format of the debate. Unfortunately, Rev Matt Boyes,  the Vicar of Christ Church Turnham Green was clearly inexperienced as a chair of such a meeting and he allowed her to get away with it.She was quite rude both in terms of both what she said and with her body language and rather ill- advisedly, but like Gordon Brown, characterised people who don't agree with her as bigots. Many people were disappointed that no questions were asked about the major issues in the campaign as asked by Gillian Duffy in Rochdale and many ordinary voters up and down the country.There were no questions on:1. The Economy - which is the major issue in this election.2. The National Debt and the Government's Deficit.3. The Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan where so many British service men and women have lost their lives.4. Immigration.5. The Treaty of Lisbon, the euro and Britain's relationship with the EU.6. Education.7. Regional Policy whereby under labour there has been a massive flow of funds from London and the Southe-East towards Labour dominated areas such as Scotland, the North-East and the North-West and marginal constituencies in Wales and the Midlands.8. The NHS (apart from a specific question regarding cancer care which was clearly planted by Labour).9. The Fitness of Gordon Brown to continue as Prime Minister in vie of his recent outburst.Instead we had questions on peripheral although important issues such as fox hunting, cancer care, the marriage of gay people in church which wwere clearly intended to play to Ann Keen's strengths rather than her very many weakneses.Why were Labour supporters- many of them clearly not from Chiswick- allowed to occupy the first three rows of the church ?Why were the other candidates not allowed to speak ?Future hustings events must be more carefully and impartially organised.Ideally they should be held in Chiswick Town Hall and they should be chaired by an impartial and experienced chairman.It has been reported that Rev Matt Boyes, the Vicar of Christ Church,who chaired the meeting, appers on one of Ann Keen's campaign leaflets. This is highly irregular as Church of England clergy are not supposed to play a partisan role in party politics.

When will the local election results be known?

With the General Election being held on the same day as the local ones when will the ballot papers be counted and results known. I know the General Election result for B & I comes through at about 3.30am.
