Mayor Boris postpones decision on Lionel Road Development
The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has postponed the planning decision on Matthew Benham's proposed development of 910 high rise apartments in 12 blocks up to 17 storeys high, only 5 metres apart in places, a 160 bedroom hotel and a 20,000 seater for his football club on a small site bounded by three railway lines and budy and congested roads on the eastern border of Brentford with Chiswick at Lionel Road. The scheme contains no social or affordable housing and is in contravention of national, GLA and London Borough of Hounslow planning guidelines and policy.it also makes inadequate provision for parking and no contribution to public transport improvements such as those which are badly needed at Gunnersbury and Kew Bridge stations. Evidently the Mayor has received a large number of objections to the scheme from local residents, local residents' groups and other interested parties.
